As many of you know, I have two jobs. I work as a cook for a cafeteria in a factory and I'm a prep cook for Northside Hospital. on Friday at my cafeteria job, we were allowed to wear a costume so long as it did not interfere with you work and was food safe. I went a zombie chef. I got a hold of some red cloth dye for the blood on my jacket and some generic face paint. every one there loved it! the real fun came when I went to work at the hospital!
There is no policy against wearing a costume on Halloween... technically but just in case, I brought a clean spare chef coat and makeup removing gear. so anyways
As I got to the hospital, I immediately started getting stares from everyone. But all the higher ups I came across liked my costume and even wished they thought about doing the same. My co-workers were either shocked at my appearance or just amused. After about 2 hours, and the patients meals were sent out, we always send some one to go to all the floors and get the patients opinions about the food and service, ect. This night it was my turn and left with out thinking and before anyone could stop me.
When I was on the elevator, I saw my reflection and remembered what I looked like so on every floor I reported to the nurses station and asked them to please go around and let the patients know I was in costume to avoid issues. All the patients got a kick at of it! Several were actually disappointed that no one was trying to do anything for Halloween. My fave was one guy who was going to be there over the weekend, had his family there as well as his 8 year old son. His son was dressed up as Louis from Left 4 Dead! He saw me and went ahead a tried to defeat me with his guns and pills! I went along and brought a smile to the kids and dads face. Not so much the family due to a lack of professionalism :shrugs: whatever
Now the reason why I made you read all this is cuz the next day Saturday, Halloween, I went to Northside for a kitchen meeting and was showered with praise for making the patients day! I came to find out that several employees from several depts went ahead and wore a costume, inspired by me as they all told me. But the real kicker? As I was leaving, I passed by the Chaplins office. Outside there is a mural with all the Patron Saints next to it was a print out picture of me with the kid dressed up as Louis messing around with a caption that reads: Jessie Tejada, Patron Zombie of Northside Hospital

and hilarious. XD
